Abstract

ABSTRACT Employee performance is a crucial factor in organizational success, particularly in the retail industry. High job demands may lead to job burnout, while coworker support serves as a social resource that enhances employee performance. This study aimed to examine the influence of job burnout and coworker support on the performance of Alfamart retail employees in Bekasi Regency. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed. The sample consisted of 84 employees selected through purposive and snowball sampling techniques. Data were collected using the Employee Performance Scale, the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), and the Coworker Support Scale. Data were analyzed using Spearman's Rank Correlation and multiple linear regression. The results indicated that job burnout had no significant effect on employee performance (β = 0.113; p = 0.145), whereas coworker support had a positive and significant effect (β = 0.426; p = 0.000). Both variables simultaneously contributed significantly, explaining 39.0% of the variance (R² = 0.390). Keywords: employee performance; job burnout; coworker support.
