Abstract

Chantika Permata Haryo Mokoginta. 41182037200089. Communication Management on the Issue of Yupi Products Contaminated by Non-Halal Materials in Online Media. In 2022, Yupi products were rumored to be contaminated with non-halal ingredients, therefore the company created a strategy to handle this case. The research aims to find out more about the communication management of Yupi product issues through online media. The research approach uses descriptive qualitative research methods involving primary data collection, namely the process of observation, interviews and documentation. The research also applies secondary data obtained through journals and the PT website. Yupi Indo Jelly Gum to complete the available data. The research source triangulation and data collection techniques using a post-positivist paradigm in combining and completing data. The research prove the issue management carried out by Yupi in handling issues using the identification stage shows that an analysis step is needed to determine the source of origin. Then at the analysis stage it shows that the source of the issue comes from the TikTok social media account @congean124 so a change strategy is needed using social media, media releases and media gathering so that consumers know the truth of the information. Next, at the Yupi issue action programming stage, carrying out the Champaign Lets Speak Up activity is enough to provide education regarding Yupi's halal ingredients. And the evaluation stage the results showed that Champaign Lets Speak Up was running effectively. Then implementing public communication through information can ensure consumers that Yupi products are safe and halal. Based on the research results, it is recommended that issue handling be implemented quickly to avoid the spread of the issue becoming more widespread among consumers.
