Abstract
This research is motivated by the problem of reading comprehension skills in the Indonesian language learning process which are still low among class V students at SDN Pekayon Jaya VIII. The problems are: 1) Students have not been able to determine the main idea of each paragraph, 2) Students have difficulty understanding the meaning of the words used in the reading text, 3) Students feel afraid of being wrong in answering questions completely, 4) Students have difficulty retelling the content using language. themselves, 5) Students have not been able to conclude the contents of the reading text. The aim of this research is to determine the improvement of reading comprehension skills through the PQRST (Preview, Question, Read, Summarize and Test) method in class V students at SDN Pekayon Jaya VIII Bekasi. The research method used is the Classroom Action Research (PTK) model. Which consists of two cycles that go through the stages of planning, implementation, assessment and reflection. This data collection uses written test instruments, data analysis is descriptive. The subjects of this research were 33 class V students at SDN Pekayon Jaya VIII Bekasi, consisting of 17 male students and 16 female students. The success indicator for this research is 80% with the predetermined research completeness criteria, namely 70. From the research results, the percentage of classical completeness in cycle I was 51.51% with an average value of 66.21. In Cycle II the percentage of classical completion increased to 81.81% with an average score of 78.66. This shows an increase in students' reading comprehension skills using the PQRST (Preview, Question, Read, Summarize and Test) method by 30.30%. Thus it can be concluded that the use of the PQRST (Preview, Question, Read, Summarize and Test) method can improve the reading comprehension skills of class V students at SDN Pekayon Jaya VIII Bekasi.
