Abstract

This research was motivated by the low ability to read intensively in learning Indonesian, this can be seen from 30 students not being able to determine the main idea of the reading, answer questions about the content of the reading, make a summary in their own language, and retell the content of the reading according to the text. reading. The aim of this research is to determine the increase in intensive reading skills through the Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) strategy in class III students at SDN Wanajaya 02. The method used is the Classroom Action Research (PTK) model. This research was carried out in two cycles, each cycle holding three meetings through the planning, implementation, observation and reflection stages. This research used a written test instrument, data analysis was descriptive, this subjective research included 41 students in class III of SDN Wanajaya 02, consisting of 26 male students and 15 female students. The success indicator for this research is 90% with a predetermined KKM of 70. From the research results, the percentage of classical completeness in cycle I was 56.09% with an average value of 64.41. In cycle II, the presentation of classical completeness increased to 92.68% with an average score of 80.87. This shows that there is an increase in students' intensive reading skills using the Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) strategy by 36.59%. It can be concluded that the use of the Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) strategy can improve intensive Indonesian reading skills in class III at SDN Wanajaya 02.
