Abstract

Penerapan Metode Global Untuk Meningkatkan Keterampilan Membaca Permulaan Pada Siswa Kelas 1 Di SDN Pengasinan IX Kota Bekasi This study was motivated by the problem of students' initial reading skills which are still low in class 1B SDN Pengasinan IX Bekasi City. Based on the results of observations, it proves that in Indonesian language learning, students' beginning reading skills are still classified as very low and incomplete. Because, out of 41 students, 23 students cannot read and know the letters, 18 students already know and can distinguish letters but not in accordance with the correct pronunciation in reading words and sentences such as “clothes” read stammering “bb-aa-jj-uu”, students have difficulty in mentioning consonant and vowel letters, students have difficulty reading fluently syllables consisting of 4 vowel and consonant characters in it. The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of early reading skills through the global method for students in class 1B SDN Pengasinan IX Bekasi City. The research method used is the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method. This research was conducted in 2 cycles. Each cycle includes the stages of planning, implementation, assessment, reflection and rubric assessment of beginning reading skills. The subjects of this study were students of class 1B SDN Pengasinan IX, totaling 41 students consisting of 19 girls and 22 boys. The researcher's success indicator is 100% of students who score > 75. The results showed that there was an increase in students' beginning reading skills in each cycle, namely in cycle I the classical completeness was 78% with an average score of 85 and in cycle II the classical completeness increased to 100% with an average score of 95. The difference between the increase in classical percentage of cycle I and cycle II was 22%. Thus it can be concluded that the global method can improve the beginning reading skills of students in class 1B SDN Pengasinan IX Bekasi City.
