Abstract

Burnout is a common psychological condition among nurses due to heavy workloads and emotional demands in patient care. This study aimed to examine the effect of self-compassion training on burnout among nurses. A quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was employed. The participants were 10 nurses selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and the Self-Compassion Scale. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and paired-samples t-test. The results showed that self-compassion training significantly reduced burnout (t = 2.332; p = 0.045). Improvements were also found in the distribution of burnout dimensions, particularly emotional exhaustion and depersonalization. However, the increase in self-compassion was not statistically significant (t = 1.048; p = 0.322). These findings indicate that self-compassion training may serve as an effective psychological intervention to reduce burnout among nurses.
