Abstract

Low work engagement is still challenge companies in Indonesia. including apreliminary study, also indicated low emotional intelligence and insuffcient perceived organizational support among employees. This study aimed to examine the relationship between emotional intelligence and perceived organizational support with work engagement, as well as the simultaneous effect of both variables on the work engagement of employees. This study employes a quantitative correlational design involving 77 administrative employees of PT AT&E. Data were colected using emotional intelligence scale based on Goleman (1995), perceived organizational support (POS) scale developed by Rhoades dan Eisenberger (2002) and utrecht work engagement scale (UWES) developed by Schaufeli &Bakker (2004). The instruments demonstrated good construct validity and high reliability. The result showed significant positive relationships between emotional intelligence and work engagement (r= 0,607) and between perceived organizational support and work engagement (r 0,488). Futhemore, emotional intelligence and perceived organizational support jointly had a significant effect on work engagement, explaining 54,9% of the variance in employees work engagement.
