Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationships and effects of online self-presentation and Instagram use intensity on subjective well-being among students of Universitas Islam 45 Bekasi. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. A total of 235 students were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), Scale of Positive and Negative Experience (SPANE), Presentation of Online Self Scale for Adults (POSSA), and an Instagram use intensity scale developed by the researcher. Data were analyzed using Spearman Rank correlation and multiple linear regression. The results revealed a significant positive relationship between online self-presentation and subjective well-being (r = 0.468, p = 0.000), as well as a significant negative relationship between Instagram use intensity and subjective well-being (r = -0.159, p = 0.015). Multiple regression analysis showed that both variables simultaneously had a significant effect on subjective well-being (F = 35.029, p = 0.000), accounting for 23.2% of the variance (R² = 0.232). These findings indicate that online self-presentation and Instagram use intensity contribute to explaining students’ subjective well-being.
