Abstract
Employee retention is an important aspect of human resource management as it reflects a company's ability to retain competent and productive employees. This study aims to analyze the effect of motivation and compensation on employee retention at PT PLN (Persero) ULP Medan Satria, Bekasi City. The study employed a quantitative approach with an associative research method. The population consisted of 41 employees, all of whom were selected as research samples using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using the Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling method with SmartPLS 4 software. The results indicate that motivation has a positive and significant effect on employee retention, with a path coefficient of 0.617, a t-statistic of 4.497, and a p-value of 0.000. Compensation also has a positive and significant effect on employee retention, with a path coefficient of 0.259, a t-statistic of 2.038, and a p-value of 0.042. Furthermore, motivation has a more dominant influence than compensation in improving employee retention. The study concludes that enhancing work motivation and providing adequate compensation are essential strategies for increasing employee retention and maintaining a qualified workforce.
