Abstract

This study aimed to determine the level of students’ interest in rowing extracurricular activities at SMA Korpri Bekasi and to identify the factors influencing their interest. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach using a survey method. The population consisted of all students participating in the rowing extracurricular program at SMA Korpri Bekasi in the 2025/2026 academic year, totaling 30 students, who were all included as the research sample through a total sampling technique. The research instrument was a closed-ended questionnaire using a Likert scale, developed based on intrinsic and extrinsic interest factors, including the role of teachers, parental support, environment, facilities and infrastructure, influence of role models, community support, and sports culture. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of percentages and mean scores. The results indicated that the students’ interest in rowing extracurricular activities at SMA Korpri Bekasi was categorized as very high. Facilities and infrastructure, along with teacher support and the school environment, were identified as the dominant factors influencing students’ interest, followed by parental support and the influence of sports role models. These findings suggest that adequate facilities, a supportive training environment, and positive social support play a crucial role in enhancing student participation in rowing activities. Therefore, the development of rowing extracurricular programs should focus on strengthening facilities, improving coaching quality, and implementing sustainable promotional strategies to maintain and increase students’ interest.
