Abstract

This research aims to examine the relationship between academic help seeking and emotion regulation on academic procrastination among students of Universitas Islam 45 Bekasi. The study is grounded in the increasing prevalence of academic procrastination, which is influenced by students’ emotional management abilities and their tendency to seek academic support. Academic procrastination can lead to stress, anxiety, and reduced academic performance, making adaptive help-seeking strategies and effective emotion regulation essential. A quantitative correlational design was employed, involving 98 students selected through convenience sampling. The instruments used included the Academic Help Seeking Scale (α = 0.913), the Emotion Regulation Scale (α = 0.841), and the Academic Procrastination Scale (α = 0.900). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Spearman Rank correlation. The results showed that all variables were in the moderate category. A significant positive relationship was found between academic help seeking and academic procrastination (r = 0.419; p < 0.01). Emotion regulation demonstrated a nonlinear relationship with procrastination, indicating a more complex pattern influenced by additional factors.
