Abstract

Islamic Middle school students aged 12–15 years are vulnerable to academic stress due to learning demands, including memorizing the Al-Qur'an. This research aims to determine the influence of academic self-efficacy and academic resilience on academic stress in 111 students at Nurul Hikmah II Islamic Middle School. This research uses a quantitative approach. This research method uses a psychological scale, namely the ESSA scale with a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.832, the academic self-efficacy scale based on Jinks & Morgan theory with a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.918, and the ARS-30 with a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.907. The results of the research show that there is a fairly strong and significant negative influence between academic self-efficacy with academic stress (r = -0.477; p = 0.000). Meanwhile, academic resilience does not have a significant relationship with academic stress (r = -0.009; p = 0.923). The results of the regression test show that academic self-efficacy has a significant effect on academic stress with a contribution of 21,6%. This, Academic self-efficacy is a more dominant factor in influencing students' academic stress.
