Abstract

In efforts to development of reading Al-Qur’an there are several commonly used methods. One of them is Ummi method. This method is successful to attract many schools and institutions, formal and nonformal. The majority users of Ummi Method are excellent school and madrasah. One of the users of this method is Integrated Islamic Elementary School An Najma Al Farabi North Cikarang. This phenomenon illustrates that Ummi Method is a method of learning the Qur’an that is worthy of being highly appreciated, and also interesting to be studied in more depth. This research uses a qualitative description. The data are collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The research informants are foundation management, principal, Ummi coordinator, Ummi trainers, Ummi teachers, parent and students. The results of research showed that: Implementation Ummi method in learning process Al-Qur’an at Integrated Islamic Elementary School An Najma Al Farabi North Cikarang is based on the program and the steps that are based on the rules set by the Ummi Foundation, as follows; Implementation of 7 basic programs of Ummi method (Tashih, Tahsin, Teacher‟s Certification, Coaching, Supervision, Examination, dan Khataman) plus the Tahfidz renewal class. Implementation of 7 steps in learning planning Al-Qur’an of Ummi method (Opening, Apperception, Planting Concept, Understanding Concept, Practising, Evaluation, and Closing); Implementation of 4 learning models of Ummi methode (Individual, Individual Classification, Classificasion of reading and listening, dan Classification of pure reading and listening ); and Implementation of 10 pillars of quality system of Ummi method (Goodwill Management, Teacher‟s Certification, Good and Raight Stage, Clear and Measured Target, Consistency in Mastery Learning, Enough Time, Intensif Quality Control, Proporsionil ratio of teacher and student, Progress Report of every student, and Smart Coordinator). Innovative approaches in learning the Qur'an Ummi method with the selection of children who are good at reading and combined in one group, the addition of renewal classes namely Tahfidz class, Pre Munaqosyah, Imla and Turjuman learning. The application and implementation of the Ummi Method to improve students' ability to read the Qur'an has increased significantly, especially in student reading and memorization. This can be seen from the data on the development of Ummi learning in the form of daily assessments, mid-semester assessments and end-of-semester assessments.
