Abstract

There are many changes in aspects of life during adolescence, where adolescence is a transition phase from childhood to adulthood which is considered one of the crucial stages in individual development. At this time, teenagers tend to pay great attention to their physical aspects, considering it as a representation of themselves or the element that is first assessed by others. Likewise, students in their teens cannot be separated from the physical changes they experience, which also affect their perception of body shape, which is known as body image. This body image can vary depending on the level of self￾compassion and conformity carried out by teenagers. This research aims to determine the relationship between body image and conformity and body image among Instagram users in late teens, Islamic University 45 Bekasi students. This research uses quantitative research methods and uses measuring instruments on the Self-compassion scale, body image scale, and conformity scale which are distributed via Google Form. The sample respondents in this study were 218 students at Islamic University 45 Bekasi, using non-probability quota sampling techniques. The research results show that self-compassion has a significant positive influence on body image, with a significance value of p=0.000 (p<0.05) and an R. square of 0.238. This means that the self-compassion variable contributes 23.8%, while 76.2% is influenced by other variables. Apart from that, research also shows that conformity has a significant negative influence on body image, with a significance value of p=0.000 (p<0.05) and an R square of 0.083. The conformity variable contributed 08.3%, while 91.7% was influenced by other variables.
