Abstract

Indonesian people who keep animals increase every year; this is because keeping animals is considered to be beneficial for their owners. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between pet attachment, compassion, and psychological well- being. This research uses quantitative methods with subjects as early adult cat owners in the city of Bekasi. Data collection methods use interviews and psychological scales. The quality of the instrument uses content validity and construct validity tests. The reliability test used Cronbach's alpha with results of r alpha = 0.861 for the psychological well-being scale, r apha = 0.892 for the pet attachment scale, and r alpha = 0.890 for the compassion scale. Data analysis techniques using descriptive analysis, assumption testing, and hypothesis testing. Hypothesis testing uses Spearman rank and multiple linear regression tests. The results of the correlation test are that there is a weak negative relationship between pet attachment and psychological well-being with a sign value. of 0.05 (p = 0.047) and a correlation value of -0.114, and then there is a significant positive relationship between compassion and psychological well-being because of the sign value. of 0.05 (p = 0.000) and a correlation value of 0.419. The results of the multiple linear regression test showed an influence between pet attachment and compassion on psychological well-being with a value of (F = 50.839, p 0.000).
