Abstract

This research was motivated by the problem of low student learning outcomes in mathematics subjects where 58.3% of the students had not reached the completion score (KKM). This is reinforced by the majority of students not having memorized multiplication from units to tens, students not understanding the mathematics material, so they have difficulty working on math practice questions on multiplication material, students not being able to determine multiplication and multiplication arithmetic operations, students not being able to solve word problems using number counting operations. Correctly, students have not been able to prove the correct answers regarding story problems, and students have not been able to create examples of questions that are appropriate to the mathematics material. This research aims to improve student learning outcomes through the application of the Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) learning model in mathematics subjects at SD Negeri Margahayu IX, Bekasi City. This type of research is classroom action research, which was carried out in 2 cycles, on class V students in the odd semester of 2023/2024. Research procedures include planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The data collection technique uses observation and written tests which are analyzed descriptively to provide an overview of improving the quality of student learning taught by implementing the STAD learning model through observation sheets of teacher and student activities. This study was declared successful if the classical completeness of mathematics learning outcomes using the STAD-type cooperative learning model reached 80% of the total number of students who got a KKM score ≥ 75. The research results show that student learning outcomes can be improved through the STAD learning model. This is proven by the number of students who have scores below the KKM, namely around 58.3% during the Mid-Semester Assessment (PTS) or before the implementation of the STAD learning model. After carrying out the actions in cycle 1, student learning outcomes increased with a completion percentage of 65%. Meanwhile, in cycle II, the percentage of student learning outcomes increased significantly, with an average score of 86.4 with a completion percentage of 83%. The percentage increase in student learning outcomes from cycle I to cycle II was 18%.
