Abstract

The proliferation of local television in various regions is an indicator that broadcasting resources have spread, one of which is BRTV. Being a local television station, BRTV presents programs that can explore regional potentials, as well as programs that can provide education and entertainment to attract viewers' interest. The program that includes these elements is the Want to Know program. However, to attract viewers' interest, of course the division program must implement a strategy in order to achieve the set goals. Therefore it is necessary to have a strategic program carried out by the production team in broadcasting the program. With that in mind, the aim of this research is to find out BRTV's strategy in attracting viewers' interest through the Magazine Show "Mau Tahu" program using the Peter Pringle concept which includes program planning, purchasing and production programs, program execution, as well as program monitoring and evaluation. The approach in this study uses a descriptive qualitative method. From the results of this study two conclusions were obtained that the Want to Know program implemented the strategy promoted by Peter Pringle starting from planning, production, execution, as well as monitoring and evaluation. Also, the interest of viewers is influenced by the cognitive aspect in the form of the need for information and entertainment, and the affective aspect, namely the feeling of satisfaction and happiness that arises after watching the Mau Tahu program.
