Abstract

This research examines the representation of families shown in the film Keluarga Cemara 2 in 2022. The film Keluarga Cemara 2 is an Indonesian film that tells a story about the family, how are the roles of parents and children in dealing with changes in the growth and development of children. The purpose of this study was to find out which family is represented in the film Keluarga Cemara 2. The author uses a qualitative method with the approach of Ferdinand De Saussure's semiotic theory which consists of a signifier and a signified. The object of this research is the film Keluarga Cemara 2 and the unit of analysis is a screenshot of a scene in the film that shows how a family is built. The results of this study indicate that the role of the father is as the head of the family who earns a living, as a protector for children, and is responsible. The father's role apart from being a breadwinner in the family but also has an important role to share free time with children, giving attention and affection to children is not only a mother's duty but also part of the father's role. The role of the mother as a complement to family members, educators who regulate the behavior of family members, care for, love and protect. In the family, the mother's role is not only to do housework, but also to help the family's economy, as a good listener for children during development and growth, and to meet the emotional needs of children. In addition, communication between parents and children is important in communicating messages to their children either verbally or non-verbally in a language they can understand or understand in order to foster openness and trust.
