Abstract

This research was motivated by the low numeracy skills of students at SDN Tridaya Sakti 04 Tambun Selatan. Which is characterized by a lack of students' ability to count. The numeracy skills of students in class IVA at SDN Tridaya Sakti 04 Tambun Selatan are still relatively low because almost all students are unable to solve multiplication questions, make story problems related to multiplication. Students not being able to solve questions and making word problems in multiplication, is about 23.33%. Out of 30 students, only 13 passed. The purpose of this study was to see an increase in numeracy skills through the jarimatics method in class IVA at SDN Tridaya Sakti 04 Tambun Selatan. This research used a class action research method (CAR) with 2 (two) cycles. Each cycle consists of 3 meetings. There are participants 30 consisting of 16 boys and 14 girls. Data collection techniques with interviews, tests, and observations. The success indicator that was measured in this research was the students' ability in numeracy. This research was declared successful if 80% of students reached ≥ 75. The results of this research indicate that the classical completeness class IVA increased from cycle I with a success percentage of 46.67% with an average of 66.1 to 83.33% with an average of 87.5 in cycle II. Using the jarimatics method in multiplication learning makes students more active and motivated. Thus it can be concluded that the jarimatics method can increase students' numeracy skills by 44. 17%.
