Abstract

ABSTRACT The background of this researcher is the low speaking ability of SDIT YPI 45 Bekasi students. Which is marked by the lack of students' ability in speaking skills. The speaking skills of grade II students at SDIT YPI 45 Bekasi are still relatively low because most students experience difficulties in speaking skills, including pronunciation, vocabulary, and fluency. The following data shows the average value of students in speaking skills with a percentage of 24%. Of the 14 students, there were 3 students who passed the assessment components covering pronunciation, vocabulary, and fluency. The purpose of this study was to see an increase in speaking skills through the Show and Tell method in class II students at SDIT YPI 45 Bekasi. This study uses Classroom Action Research (CAR) with 3 (three) cycles. Each cycle is carried out in four stages, namely the stages of planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The number of students in the research class is 15 students. The number of male students is 9 people and the number of female students is 6 people. Data collection techniques in this study used oral tests and observations. The success indicator that was measured in this study was the students' ability in speaking skills. This researcher was declared successful if 80% of the number of students reached ≥ 75 The results showed that class II classical completeness increased from cycle I to cycle III. The percentage of classical completeness in cycle I was 40% with an average score of 69. In cycle II, classical completeness increased to 66.66% with an average score of 79.33. In cycle III, classical completeness increased to 86.66% with an average value of 89.08. By using the Show and Tell method the teacher becomes more creative in using this method in learning and students become more active and interested in speaking so that students' speaking skills can be fulfilled. Thus it can be concluded that the Show and Tell method can improve students' speaking skills by using the Show and Tell method in class II SDIT YPI 45 Bekasi.
