Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between students perceptions of the professional competence of PAI teachers with student achievement in fiqh subjects at the Al-Mu'awanah Islamic Education Foundation. This research is motivated by the lack of optimal teacher in creating conducive learning conditions, the lack of use of various methods used by the teacher in the learning process. In this case, research is needed to find out whether there is a correlation between teacher professional competence and student achievement. The formulation of the problem in this study is 1) What is the students perception of the professional competence of fiqh teachers at the Al-Mu'awanah Islamic Education Foundation? 2) How is student achievement in fiqh subjects at the Al-Mu'awanah Islamic Education Foundation? 3) Is there a relationship between students perceptions of the professional competence of fiqh teachers and student achievement in fiqh subjects at the Al-Mu'awanah Islamic Education Foundation?. This research is a quantitative study. The target population in this study were all students of the Al-Mu'awanah Islamic Education Foundation with a population of 636 students, the sample taken was 10%, namely 64 students. sampleis 10% because the more homogeneous the population, the fewer samples taken and if the population is heterogeneous, the more samples taken. In collecting data used questionnaire technique (questionnaire) and documentation. Questionnaires were given to students who were used as respondents and documentation techniques were used to obtain student achievement scores. The data analysis used is correlational analysis using the correlation formula "Pearson's product moment", significance test ix and determinant coefficient. After data analyzing, rcount(0.278) > rtable (0.246) at a significance level of 5%, while at a significance level of 1% rtable = 0.207 indicates that rcount > rtable (0.278 > 0.207). The coefficient of determination of 7.73 % and the remaining 92.27% is influenced by others factors. So it can be concluded that there is positive and significant correlation between teacher professional competence and student achievement. From the results of this study, the authors can provide advice, namely the principal to continue to improve the professional competence of existing teachers so that student achievement can be further improved than what has been achieved at this time.
