Abstract

Ivan Pedrag Lavia, (41182191220011). Undergraduate Thesis entitled "Nutritional Status of Children with Hearing Impairment at State Special School (SLB) Negeri 7 East Jakarta." Physical Education, Health, and Recreation Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Islam 45. This study was motivated by the importance of nutritional status as one of the key health indicators influencing children's growth, development, and quality of life, including children with hearing impairment who are more vulnerable to nutritional problems. The study aimed to describe the nutritional status of children with hearing impairment at State Special School (SLB) Negeri 7 East Jakarta based on the Body Mass Index-for-Age (BMI-for-Age) and Height-for-Age (HFA) indicators. This research employed a quantitative approach using a descriptive method with a cross-sectional design. The study population consisted of 98 students with hearing impairment, all of whom were selected as the research sample through the total sampling technique. Data were collected through anthropometric measurements of body weight and height using a digital weighing scale and a microtoise. The data were then analyzed descriptively using frequency distributions and percentages based on the WHO 2007 Growth Standards. The findings revealed that, of the 98 students with hearing impairment, 60 students (61%) had normal nutritional status, 23 students (23%) were classified as underweight, 5 students (5%) were overweight, and 10 students (10%) were obese based on the BMI-for-Age indicator. These results indicate that although the majority of students had normal nutritional status, a considerable proportion still experienced nutritional problems, including both undernutrition and overnutrition. Therefore, greater attention from schools, parents, and healthcare professionals is required through regular nutritional monitoring, nutrition education, and sustainable nutrition intervention programs.
