Abstract

This study is grounded in the low achievement of students’ learning outcomes in mathematics at elementary schools in various regions of Indonesia, as identified by the researcher through a number of journal articles. This condition is indicated by the large number of students who have not yet met the established Minimum Mastery Criteria (MMC). The low mathematics learning outcomes are influenced by several factors, including students’ difficulties in understanding the material and their low interest in learning mathematics due to boredom during the learning process. One effort that can be made to address these problems is by implementing the Think Pair Share learning model, as this model is enjoyable, actively involves students, and encourages them to be more confident in their abilities. Therefore, this study aims to examine the implementation of the Think Pair Share learning model as an alternative to improving mathematics learning outcomes in elementary schools. The method used in this study is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), which involves reviewing and analyzing the results of previous studies related to the implementation of the Think Pair Share learning model on mathematics learning outcomes in elementary schools. The sample of the review consists of 23 journal articles published during the period 2017–2025. The analysis was conducted based on several aspects, namely: (1) regional distribution of the journals, (2) year of publication, (3) research methodology, which includes 9 Classroom Action Research (CAR) articles, 10 experimental research articles, and 4 Systematic Literature Review (SLR) articles, (4) the implementation of the Think Pair Share learning model in lower and upper grade levels, (5) indicators of students’ learning outcomes, and (6) the learning materials used. Based on the results of the analysis, variations in the outcomes of implementing the Think Pair Share learning model were found. Nevertheless, in general, this study concludes that the Think Pair Share learning model is appropriate for use in the learning process, as it has a positive effect and has been proven to improve elementary school students’ mathematics learning outcomes.
