Abstract

Work readiness among students refers to their ability to meet the demands of productivity, quality, and performance in an organization. Many factors can influence work readiness, one of which is selfefficacy. This study aims to examine the effect of self-efficacy on work readiness. This research is a quantitative study with a total sample of 86 students from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Islam 45 Bekasi from the 2018, 2019, and 2020 cohorts, using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through interviews and psychological scales: Bandura’s self-efficacy scale and Brady’s work readiness scale. Content validity was tested through logical analysis and expert judgment, with all items deemed valid (0.75). Construct validity testing also showed that all items were valid. The reliability of the instruments was tested using the Cronbach’s Alpha formula, resulting in a reliability coefficient of 0.761 for variable X (self-efficacy) and 0.750 for variable Y (work readiness). Data analysis used Spearman's rank correlation and simple linear regression. The results showed that self-efficacy levels among the students were: 21 in the low category, 50 in the moderate category, and 15 in the high category. Regarding work readiness, 15 students were in the low category, 55 in the moderate category, and 16 in the high category. The Spearman rank correlation test resulted in a coefficient of 0.692 with a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a strong correlation between self-efficacy and work readiness. There is a significant effect of self-efficacy on work readiness, with a significance value of p = 0.000b < 0.05. The coefficient of determination was 0.475, indicating that self-efficacy accounts for 47.5% of the variation in work readiness.
