Abstract
This research is motivated by the low ability to solve mathematical problems at SDN Bintara XI, West Bekasi District. This can be seen from the students lack of understanding of what is known and asked, students still have difficulty determining the calculation operation used, students difficulty in completing the calculation operation, and students have not been able to conclude the results. The purpose of this study is to improve the ability to solve mathematical problems through the method of problem solving in mathematics class IV SDN Bintara XI West Bekasi district. The research method used is Class Action Research (PTK) conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were fourth grade students of SDN Bintara XI Kecamatan Bekasi Barat totaling 27 students, consisting of 17 male students and 10 female students. The Data in this study were obtained using written test techniques in the form of description and observation. Classical completeness of this study is 80% of the total number of students who achieve the value of KKM 75. From the results of the study, it can be seen that there is an increase in the ability to solve mathematical problems from cycle I to Cycle II. In the first cycle, students achieved a classical completeness score of 67% with an average value of 69.63. In the second cycle there was an increase in classical completeness value obtained by 85% with an average value of 87.07. So that the value of cycle I to Cycle II obtained an increase of 18%. This shows the method of problem solving is able to improve the ability to solve mathematical problems in mathematics class IV SDN Bintara XI West Bekasi district.
