Abstract
This research was motivated by the low understanding of students' concepts in science subjects in class III at SDN Bojong Rawalumbu X, Bekasi City. The problems are that students have not been able to explain precisely the meaning of changes in the form of objects, students have difficulty in mentioning examples of changes in the form of objects, students have not been able to classify or group the properties of objects, students have not been able to conclude the material they have studied. Therefore, the aim of this research is to improve class III students' understanding of concepts in science subjects by applying the model Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) at SDN Bojong Rawalumbu Bekasi City. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (PTK). This research was carried out in 2 cycles, each cycle held 3 meetings and went through planning, implementation, assessment and reflection stages. The subjects of this research were 25 class III students at SDN Bojong Rawalumbu X Bekasi City, consisting of 12 male students and 13 female students. The indicator for the success of this research is that 80% of the total number of students reach the KKM, namely 75. From the research results, it was found that the percentage of classical completeness in cycle I was 60%, increasing by 28% in cycle II to 88%. The average value in cycle I was 64, increasing in cycle II to 85. Thus it can be concluded that the use of the model Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) can improve understanding of concepts in science subjects for class III students at SDN Bojong Rawalumbu X Bekasi City.
