Abstract

This research was motivated by the problem of low reading comprehension skills in students in the Indonesian Language subject in class V of SDN Sumur Batu II. The problems are: 1. Students have not been able to find the main idea based on the text read, 2. Students still have difficulty in capturing the meaning and expressions in the story that has been read, 3. Students have difficulty capturing the implied or explicit meaning of words, 4. Students have difficulty making conclusions about the story that has been read. In overcoming these problems, the Cooperative Integrated Reading And Composition (CIRC) model was implemented which aims to improve the reading comprehension skills of class V students at SDN Sumur Batu II, Bekasi. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which consists of 2 cycles, with 29 students as subjects and each cycle consisting of 3 meetings. Data collection in this study used a written test data collection technique. The success criteria in this study were 80% with a KKM score of 75.The results of this study indicate that the increase in reading comprehension skills, namely in cycle I classical completeness of 59% with an average score of 70 and in cycle II classical completeness increased to 93% with an average score of 82. Based on these data, the CIRC learning model can improve reading comprehension skills in class V by 34%. Thus, it can be concluded that the CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading And Composition) learning model can improve reading comprehension skills in the Indonesian Language subject for Class V of SDN Sumur Batu II.
