Abstract
This research is motivated by the lack of use of varied learning models when learning science at the elementary school level (SD) so that students are easily bored and feel bored. This study aims to determine the difference between the Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs) learning model and the Small Group Discussion model on concept understanding in science subjects for grade V students of SDN Kebalen 02 North Bekasi. The method used in this research is an experimental method with a research design, namely quasi-experimental. This study used experimental class I and experimental class II where experimental class I was treated using the Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs) learning model and experimental class II using Small Group Discussion. The analysis techniques used in this study are Normality Test, Homogeneity Test, Hypothesis Test (Independent Sample T-test) and N-gain Analysis using data processing applications, namely IBM Statistic SPSS version 29. The results of this study are as follows: (1) Students' concept understanding in science subjects in grade V SDN Kebalen 02, North Bekasi Regency using the Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs) learning model in experimental class I, the average is 86.9. Where the average result before learning is 75.8. So that there was an increase in average results by 11.1. (2) Students' understanding of concepts in science subjects in class V SDN Kebalen 02, North Bekasi Regency using the Small Group Disscusion learning model in experimental class II, the average was 80.4. Where the average result before learning is 72.8. So that there was an increase in average results by 7.6. (3) There is a difference between the Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs) learning model and the Small Group Disscusion model on concept understanding in science subjects with a sig value. (2-tailed) of < 0.002 is smaller than (<) 0.05. Keywords: Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs), Concept Understanding.
