Abstract

This research was motivated by students' problem solving abilities which were still low in the mathematics learning process for fourth grade students. The problems faced are the lack of ability to understand the problems contained in the story questions, students' lack of ability to plan solutions, low ability of students to carry out planning, low ability of students to summarize the results of answers. This researcher aims to improve students' problem solving abilities using the Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) learning model. This research used the PTK (Classroom Action Research) approach for this researcher and took place over two cycles, each cycle consisting of four stages, namely planning, implementation, assessment and reflection. The subjects of this research were 29 grade IV SDIT Darul Hasani students, each consisting of 13 female students and 16 male students. Data collection techniques are carried out through written tests in the form of descriptions and observations for activities implementing learning methods. The data technique is carried out using descriptive analysis. Based on the research results obtained, students' problem solving abilities in cycle I received an average score of 69 with classical completeness of 45%, and in cycle II the average score of students' problem solving abilities increased to 85 with classical completeness of 86%. Thus it can be concluded that the incerease in classical completeness between cyle I and II experienced an increase of 41% in learning Mathematics through the Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) learning model can improve students' problem solving abilities in class IV SDIT Darul Hasani.
