Abstract

Based on the results of analysis from various journal articles, the problems that occur in mathematics subjects in elementary schools are the low ability of students to solve problems, there are still many students who have difficulty analyzing problems, understanding the solving process and evaluating the results, lack of practice in answering questions, lack of teachers in using varied learning models to attract student interest. This research aims to analyze the use of the Polya learning model in improving elementary school students' mathematical problem solving abilities. The research method used in this research is the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The data used in this research are sources from journals which have the following inclusion criteria; journals for the last 6 years (2017- 2023), mathematics subject journals, journals for elementary school level, Indonesian language journals, Polya learning model journals, and problem solving ability journals. Based on 9 study materials from journal articles related to the application of the Polya learning model, it was then analyzed based on the following aspects, namely the results of the research area, year of publication, application of the learning model in lower and higher grades, research methods that showed the lowest and highest percentages achieved. This shows that the Polya learning model can improve and influence problem solving abilities because students are involved in the learning process directly in solving problems, thus encouraging students' courage in expressing their opinions or ideas in problem solving abilities. Thus, the author can recommend using the Polya model for learning to solve problems by adding more detailed Polya model steps so that the material presented is easier for students to understand.
