Abstract

The Background of this research is the low reading comprehension skills of students in Indonesian in class IV SDN Cibuntu 06 Bekasi. This can be seen from the process of learning reading comprehension skills which are classified as not optimal. This happens because students have not been able to provide answers related to questions from the teacher, students’ understanding of reading is still low because students pay less attention to the contents of the reading, students are still in a hurry to read to that they do not get information from the reading they read, students do not understand the content or essence of the reading text, the lack of interaction by students makes students less active when participating in the learning process in class as a result students feel bored quickly, students have not been able to provide conclusions related to the content of the text they read, students have not been able to explain the core sentences of reading texts and students still have difficulty determining the main idea of a reading text. The subjects in this study were fourth grade students at SDN Cibuntu 06 Bekasi with a total of 26 students, of which there were 11 male students and 15 female students. The method used in this study was classroom action research, which consisted of 2 cycles. In each cycle of PTK activities, there are four stages of main activities, namely planning, implementing actions, observing and reflecting. The criterion for success in this study is if 80% of the students score 75 or ≥ 75. Based on the results of the study which stated that there was an increase in students' reading comprehension skills in each cycle. It was proven that during the pre-cycle reading comprehension skills students obtained an average score of 72.3 and students who met the KKM score were 42%. Then in cycle I students' reading comprehension skills increased with an average score of 77.9 and students who met the KKM score were 62%. Then during cycle II the students' reading comprehension skills increased again with an average value of 86.3 and students who achieved KKM were 85%. The research was dismissed because it had reached the target classical completeness score of 80% in the aspect of reading comprehension skills in Indonesian subjects. Thus the think pair share (TPS) learning model can also improve reading comprehension skills in the Indonesian language subject for fourth grade students at SDN Cibuntu 06 Bekasi.
