Abstract

ABSTRACT This research is motivated by the fact that there are still many students who have difficult memorizing, understanding and mastering English vocabulary. The solution to overcome this problem is to apply a flash card media. This study aims to determine the description of the application of flash card media to the mastery of English vocabulary in elementary school students. The method used is Systematic Literature Review (SLR). The research inclusion criteria were English subjects, elementary school student category, and published based on the criteria for the year that had been set in the last 10 years (2012-2022). Based on the results of the research obtained from a total of 14 journal articles that have been reviewed, there has been an increase in mastery of English vocabulary. The results of the analysis in terms of research methodology showed that in the study (PTK) the average value in cycle 1 was 63.86 and in cycle 2 (last cycle) it increased to 84.46 so that there was a difference of 20.6 increase in the results of the total average value of the 5 research journals and in qualitative research with the results of using flash card media repeatedly and optimally in the learning process can increase mastery of English vocabulary effectively and well according to the achievement of the desired learning objectives. Recommendations for flash card media are putting real pictures instead of cartoon illustrations so that students can more clearly understand the meaning and message presented. The images on the flash card media are affixed with velcro adhesive so that students can attach and remove the image. The application of matching games, so that students can memorize English vocabulary more easily and quickly in the form of a picture matching game according to the English vocabulary contained in the flash card image in groups
