Abstract

Polygamy is a socio-religious phenomenon that continues to generate debate in society, especially when represented through film. The film “SURGA yang Tak Dirindukan 1” depicts the practice of polygamy with a religious and humanitarian narrative that is interesting to study from the perspective of marriage fiqh education. The problem in this research focuses on how the motives and implementation of polygamy are represented in the film and their alignment with the principles of Islamic marriage fiqh. This study aims to analyze the motives for polygamy depicted and examine its implementation from the perspective of marriage fiqh education. Previous studies have shown that most research on this film focuses on semiotic analysis, communication, and Quranic interpretation, while studies specifically highlighting the educational aspects of marital jurisprudence are still limited. This study employed a qualitative approach, employing library research and content analysis. Data collection was conducted through observation of scenes, dialogue, and storylines in the film "Surga Yang Tak Dirindukan 1," supported by documentary studies of marital jurisprudence books, scientific journals, previous theses, and other relevant literature. Data analysis was conducted by classifying the data based on the motives and practices of polygamy, then analyzing them using a marital jurisprudence education perspective. The data sources for this study consisted of primary data, the film "Sura Yang Tak Dirindukan 1," and secondary data, including fiqh literature, the Quran, hadith, and related scientific research. The result of the study indicate that the polygamy motif in the film Surga yang Tak Dirindukan 1 appears to be dominated by an emergency motive based on humanitarian reasons and unwise moral responsibility. The implementation of polygamy is depicted as a practice full of inner conflict and demands moral readiness, justice, and great responsibility. Viewed from the perspective of marital fiqh education, this film emphasizes that polygamy is not an ideal action that must be implemented, but rather a permissible emergency solution to prevent suicide. In conclusion, this film is not ideal as a learning medium to instill the values of justice, responsibility, and ethics in polygamous marriage according to Islamic teachings.
