Abstract

Mental health is often the main problem experienced by athletes, poor mental health can reduce motivation. This obstacle becomes the focus of the coach in developing the team by means of positive communication to create a team with a winning mentality. This means that interpersonal communication is the solution to being a coach to build positive togetherness because interpersonal communication involves individuals receiving direct reactions, both verbal and nonverbal with various influences and feedback. The aim of the research is to determine the importance of interpersonal communication in a sports team in motivating athletes, in order to develop their talents and good team cohesion. The method used in this research is qualitative with a descriptive approach. The focus of this research is interpersonal communication in the form of openness, empathy, supportive attitudes, positive attitudes, equality between coaches and players in training, as well as the Binamitra Vocational School futsal team's futsal championship. The research uses interview and observation data collection techniques. The results of the research show that there is interpersonal communication between coaches and players using elements of openness, empathy, supportive attitudes, positive attitudes and equality which are applied by the coach so that a good, conducive and comfortable relationship is created in interacting and helps the team develop for the better and so the impact on the team Binamitra Vocational School futsal is able to excel.
