Abstract

The emergence of autobase @ssefnum in X has become a haven for pseudonymous accounts seeking a place to socialize and express grievances. These pseudonymous accounts are created to escape from real-world life. The objective of this research is to understand how pseudonymous accounts engage in self-disclosure. The study employs the Self-Disclosure Theory by Devito. The findings reveal that group size, feelings of liking and trust, and the topic itself are strong motivators for pseudonymous accounts to engage in self-disclosure. Pseudonymous accounts tend to be selective in their interactions and are more open in smaller circles. They also appreciate the supportive attitudes and behaviors of their peers, which provide comfort when facing problems. Topics that prompt them to disclose are not related to major issues or personal identity. Future researchers are encouraged to conduct further studies using different theories through other autobases. Keywords: Autobase, Pseudonym, Self-disclosure
