Abstract
Welding techniques have been widely applied in the construction sector because welding techniques are one of the simpler methods in the steel connection process compared to using bolts or rivets. Factors that influence the quality of welding results include the size of the heat input. This research aims to analyze the effect of variations in welding current on tensile test values on SPCC steel materials using RB26 electrodes. The welding process is carried out using three different current variations to determine how changes in current affect the mechanical properties of the material, especially its tensile strength. Tensile tests were carried out for each welded specimen, and the results were described comparatively. The research results show that variations in welding current have a significant effect on the tensile test value of SPCC steel. Higher welding currents tend to increase the tensile strength of the material, but also have the potential to cause defects such as porosity and cracks if not controlled properly. This study provides practical guidance in selecting the optimal welding current for applications requiring high tensile strength in SPCC steel.
