Abstract

The development of the automotive industry is growing rapidly, many of the frame components in the automobile industry use the bending process as the basis of their production. One of them is the U-bending process, which is the formation of a simple metal sheet capable of working two or more processes simultaneously in a single press. However, there are spring-back and spring-go that are the main problems in the U-bending process. In this study, they tested to find out the influence of the angle and height of beading punch on the phenomena of spring-backs and springs-go on the process. This test uses the material SAPH440 with a thickness of 2.0 mm, punch angle 90, 89, 88, and beading height punch 0 mm, 0.2 mm, 0,4 mm. In the test obtained the most optimum results in controlling the occurrence of spring-back and spring-go is punch with an angle of 890 and the height of beading 0,2 mm. This is based on the presence of a larger angle on the punch allowing the material to fill the gap if given pressure by beading.
