Abstract

The existence of quarrels and disagreements are the main causes of divorce due to the existence of bad interpersonal communication in marriage, therefore interventions are needed to prevention.. The purpose of this study is to improve interpersonal communication in married early adults through the provision of assertiveness training. This study was conducted on 40 residents of Sukarukun village, Bekasi Regency as the research sample. Samples were selected purposive sampling with inclusion and exclusion criteria. The research method is experimental with pretest posttest control group design. Data collection techniques using interviews and psychological scales. Hypothesis test using independent sample t test and paired sample t test. The results from hypothesis testing with the independent sample t test show p=0.021 (p<0.05), meaning that there is a significant difference in the level of interpersonal communication in the experimental group with control group after being given assertive training. The results of the paired sample t test obtained the results of p=0.000 (p<0.05) so that it could be concluded that there were significant changes in the experimental group before and after the assertive training was given.
