Abstract

Some adolescents can alternately experience the dual states of being conflicted or well- adjusted. Adolescents are still in the process of learning to interact well with the people around them. This study aims to determine the description, relationship, and influence between alexithymia and attachment style on interpersonal problems. This study uses quantitative methods with the subject of male students in vocational schools. The data collection method used FGDs, and psychological measurement instruments with Likert scale models consisting of interpersonal problems scale, alexithymia scale, and attachment style scale. The quality of the scale uses content validity test, construct validity test, and Cronbach Alpha reliability test. Data analysis techniques using descriptive analysis techniques, assumption testing techniques with normality tests and linearity tests, hypothesis testing techniques using Spearman's Rho Rank correlation tests and simple linear regression tests. The results of the correlation test showed a strong and significant positive relationship between alexithymia and interpersonal problems with a value of r = 0.612, p = 0.000 (<0.05). Furthermore, there is a fairly strong and significant negative relationship between attachment style and interpersonal problems with a value of r = -0.457, p = 0.000 (<0.05). In the simple linear regression test results there is a significant positive influence between alexithymia on interpersonal problems with a value of t = 10.877, p = 0.000 (<0.05). The coefficient of determination R2 is 0.494. This shows the alexithymia variable contributes an influence of 49.4%. In the simple linear regression test results, there is a significant negative influence between attachment style on interpersonal problems with a value of t = -4.937, p = 0.000 (<0.05). The coefficient of determination R2 is 0.168. This shows that the attachment style variable contributes an influence of 16.8%.
