Abstract
Korean dramas are a form of media that can influence individual perceptions, including romantic beliefs, and can lead to parasocial relationships with actors or actresses. This study examines the relationship between parasocial interactions, adult attachment styles, and romantic beliefs among fans of romantic Korean dramas. The research uses a quantitative method with 226 fans of the romantic genre. The research instruments include the Romantic Beliefs Scale (Sprecher & Metts) with a validity range of 0.355-0.568 and a Cronbach’s Alpha reliability (α = 0.797), a parasocial scale with a validity range of 0.306-0.704 and a reliability (α = 0.933), and the Adult Attachment Scale (Collins & Read) with a validity range of 0.313-0.730 and a reliability (α = 0.755-0.793). The analysis includes assumption tests with normality and linearity tests, as well as hypothesis tests with correlation and multiple linear regression. The correlation test results between parasocial interactions and romantic beliefs (r = 0.230, p = 0.000) indicate a positive relationship, meaning that higher parasocial interactions are associated with higher romantic beliefs. For secure attachment and romantic beliefs (r = 0.084, p = 0.355), there is no significant relationship. Similarly, anxious attachment and romantic beliefs (r = 0.051, p = 0.692) show no significant relationship. However, avoidant attachment and romantic beliefs (r = -0.083, p = 0.016) show a negative relationship. The multiple linear regression test results for parasocial interactions and secure attachment with romantic beliefs (F = 3.546, p = 0.032, R² = 0.055) indicate that parasocial interactions and secure attachment together contribute 5.5% to romantic beliefs.
