Abstract
Many students struggle with starting to read because they lack the beginning reading skills necessary for reading in lower elementary grades, according to the findings of an analysis conducted in several publications. The problems experienced by students are as follows: they lack motivation to practice reading, their parents do not provide help at home, they become easily bored when reading, and they easily lose focus when reading. The purpose of this study was to evaluate how well the beginning reading ability of low-grade elementary school students was affected when the scramble method was used. The research methodology used is the Systematic Literature Review (SLR), which is based on the inclusion criteria of variables X and Y (the effectiveness of the scramble method on initial reading ability) and is generated from the Google Scholar database. Based on an analysis of 13 journal articles, it shows how well the scramble method works on the beginning reading skills of low-grade elementary school students. The advice given to the next researcher using the scramble method is to include the activity phase with ice breaking to encourage students to participate in learning activities.
