Abstract
Username is an alias or other name in a platform. The username itself can be created based on owner want, starting from borrowing words, creating their names, adding morphemes or words, shortening words, using initials, until creating own names. In this study research entitled “Pola Pembentukan Username pada Game Genshin Impact” to find out the structure of word formation as well as what patters are used in word formation, and the reason behind for word formation username in Genshin Impact. In this research, I’m using quantitive method with word formation theory from George Yule (2010) for data analysis. The data was collected from within Genshin Impact and facebook group “Keluh kesah Pemain Genshin Impact”. The research were analyzed by categorize the word formation types based on theory. From the data obtained, there are around 35 usernames and these username have undergone process of coinage, borrowing blending, acronyms, derivation, and multiple process. In addition to word formation, I have also analyzed of usernames based of reason such as from character, language switching, identity, to the creation of one own’s name. This result also indicate borrowing process are the most dominant word formation among other word formation process with 24 usernames. The data also show that word formation based on language switch are the most used in borrowing process. This happens because of the interest people about Japanese culture.
