Abstract

ABSTRACT Universitas Islam 45 Bekasi Study of Communication Science Faculty of Communication, Literature and Language 2023 Yunia Triyawati/41182037190060 “The existence of newspaper Radar Bekasi in the era of media convergence” Under the guidance Mr. Miftakhudin (100 Pages), (3 Tables), (17 Pictures), (6 Attachments) The rise of online news portals resulted in fierce competition between print media. Convergence is one of the solutions for print media to survive in the digital era. Expanding the platform to online media is an unavoidable choice given the declining number of print media readers. The current challenge for print media is to maintain its existence so that it can still be read and compete with new media. This study aims to determine the existence of the daily newspaper Radar Bekasi in the era of media convergence. This study uses qualitative methods by interviewing key informants and informants as well as library research on similar research. The results of the study show that the Radar Bekasi daily newspaper maintains its existence by expanding to online platforms, adding social media divisions, cross-promotion between print media, online media and social media, increasing worker expertise and packaging news according to existing platforms. To realize this convergence, the Bekasi Radar Daily uses five dimensions of convergence, namely ownership convergence, tactical convergence, structure convergence, information coverage convergence and storytelling convergence.
