Abstract

The purpose of this study is to know and understand the implementation of the discovery inquiry approach in increasing student activeness at SMA Negeri 20 Central Jakarta. The method in this research is to use descriptive research with a qualitative approach. For data collection in this study is by interview method with school parties, especially Islamic religious education teachers, class action research, observation and giving knowledge test questions to students. The results of this study indicate that learning using the discovery inquiry approach is able to increase student activeness in participating in the learning process, especially in Islamic Religious Education learning at SMA Negeri 20 Central Jakarta. It is proven that before the implementation of this discovery inquiry approach, students tend to be passive towards the material presented by the teacher, especially Islamic Religious Education lessons. This is also able to affect their learning scores. So that it is not able to achieve the expected targets or educational goals. For this reason, teachers must re-evaluate the approach or method used to increase student activeness in learning. For this reason, the discovery inquiry approach was chosen so that students are more active and able to respond well to the material. From cycle I to cycle II there was a very significant increase in learning activeness, this also had an impact on the value of learning outcomes that were good enough to achieve the expected educational goals.
