Abstract

The writing of this thesis starts from the problem of the Role of the Bekasi City Tourism and Culture Office, with the title: "The Role of the Bekasi City Tourism and Culture Office in Preserving Local Culture". This is a thesis from the Government Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Islamic University “45” Bekasi. This research was conducted using qualitative methods, with data collection techniques reviewed through interview guidelines and questionnaires. The population of this researcher is all regional government officials in the cultural field of Bekasi City, arts and cultural organizations, and cultural figures. The research sample used the Saturated Sampling Technique, which is a sampling technique that makes all members of the population less than 50 people. The population is determined based on 3 categories, namely: (1) Government officials, (2) Arts and cultural organizations, (3) Cultural arts figures. The theory used is the theory of role dimensions according to Horoepoetri, Arimbi, and Santosa (2003) which has several indicators, namely: the role as a policy, the role as a strategy, the role as a communication tool, the role as a dispute resolution tool, and the role as therapy. The results of the study show that of all research indicators, 78.41% of the total value, according to Idrus (2009: 36), is in the good category (between 69-80%). In detail it can be explained as follows: (1) The Role indicator as a policy shows a value of 76.47% according to Idrus (2009) including in the good category (between 69-80%). (2) The Role indicator as a strategy shows a value of 77.57% according to Idrus (2009:36) including in the good category (between 69-80%). (3) The Role indicator as a communication tool shows a value of 76.47% according to Idris (2009:36) including in the good category (between 69-80%) (4) The Role indicator as a means of dispute resolution shows a value of 77% according to Idris (2009 :36) included in the good category (between 69-80%). (5) The indicator of the Role as Therapy shows a value of 95.62% according to Idris (2009: 36) including very good (between 80-100%). The obstacles found are: (1) Policy regulations have not been established as a basis for local cultural preservation strategies, (2) The strategy of the Bekasi City Tourism and Culture Office is still not optimal, (3) Coordination between the Bekasi City Tourism and Culture Office and institutions and arts and culture organizations that are not yet optimal, (4) the lack of human resource capacity at the Bekasi City Tourism and Culture Office and (5) the lack of institutional budgets. The strategy of the Bekasi City Tourism and Culture Office in Overcoming Obstacles to Preserving Bekasi Local Culture, namely: (1) compiling or proposing regulations/policies on cultural preservation, (2) providing socialization on traditional culture and arts through formal, non-formal and informal educational institutions, ( 3) provide space for traditional entertainment, (4) appreciate and preserve culture and arts.
