Abstract

Bekasi Regency is one of the fastest-growing areas. A section of Mekarsari Tengah Road is one of the main roads located in South Tambun, specifically at the underpass. This section of road is very frequently subject to traffic congestion, particularly during peak hours such as in the morning and evening; the road is 7 metres wide per carriageway and is classified as a 4/2T road. The congestion is caused by vehicles entering and exiting the market or railway station, as well as public transport vehicles stopping at the roadside—including both private and public transport vehicles. Furthermore, the roadside is frequently used by street vendors to sell their wares. The performance assessment for the Mekarsari Tengah Road section utilises the methods set out in the 2023 Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines. The results of the analysis in this study show that the Degree of Saturation (DJ) on the Tambun–Bekasi route is 6.77 smp/hour and on the Bekasi–Tambun route is 3.57 smp/hour, with a Level of Service (LOS) rating of ‘Very High’ (ST). Consequently, the Tambun–Bekasi route has a Level of Service (LOS) rating of ‘Very High’. ST. The free-flow speed (VB) stands at 60.84. On this road section, the capacity (C) per lane is 1,680, whilst the total capacity per lane is 3,360, meaning that the maximum travel speed (VMP) is limited to 20 km/h.
