Abstract

This research aims to (1) Examine the potential of the Javan Langur conservation area in Muara Bendera Village as a geography learning resource. (2) Analyze the values embedded in the conservation area, including ecological, tourism (ecotourism), and economic values for the community. (3) Formulate the area's development strategy using the IFAS and EFAS matrices through SWOT analysis. (4) Determine students' responses to the socialization and education of endemic flora and fauna preservation in the area. This study employs a Mixed Methods approach with a Sequential Exploratory design. Data collection techniques include direct field observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques utilize the Miles & Huberman model (data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing) for qualitative data, as well as the calculation of IFAS and EFAS matrices for quantitative analysis. The informants involved consist of key informants (managers and community leaders) and supporting informants (local communities/farmers). The results indicate that: (1) The Muara Bendera area not only has high potential as a natural laboratory and geography learning resource but also holds economic and tourism values that can be developed. (2) The calculation results of the SWOT analysis place the development strategy of this area in Quadrant I (Aggressive). This indicates that the area has excellent strengths and opportunities to be maximally developed, despite constraints in infrastructure and accessibility. (3) Based on field socialization results, students provided a very positive response. They showed high enthusiasm for learning about mangrove types as well as flora and fauna, and it was proven that students find it easier to understand environmental materials through direct contextual learning.
