Abstract

ABSTRACT Body dissatisfaction is a negative evaluation of one’s body shape and appearance commonly found among young adult women. This study aimed to examine self-confidence and physical appearance perfectionism in relation to body dissatisfaction among young adult female fitness members. This quantitative correlational study involved 96 active members of Pink Ladies Gym selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the BSQ-34, Self-Confidence Scale, and PAPS, all of which met construct validity (r ≥ 0.30) and Cronbach’s Alpha reliability criteria. Data were analyzed using Spearman’s Rank Correlation and Multiple Linear Regression. The results revealed a significant negative relationship between self-confidence and body dissatisfaction (r = -0.607; p < 0.001) and a significant positive relationship between physical appearance perfectionism and body dissatisfaction (r = 0.679; p < 0.001). he null hypotheses were rejected and the alternative hypotheses were accepted.
