Abstract
ABSTRACT Learning engagement is crucial for student success in the classroom. Students who are emotionally, cognitively, and behaviorally engaged tend to understand the material more easily. This study aims to determine the effect of problematic smartphone use and self-regulation on student learning engagement. This study used a correlational design, involving 357 students from the University of Muhammadiyah Indonesia (UNISMA Bekasi) as subjects. The instruments used were learning engagement scales, smartphone use problem scales, and self-regulation scales. Data collection techniques were conducted through interviews and the distribution of psychological scales. The results of the regression analysis showed that problematic smartphone use and self-regulation significantly influenced learning engagement, with both variables contributing 16.6% to learning engagement (R2 = 0.166; F = 35.224; p < 0.000). Keywords: Learning Engagement, Problematic Smartphone Use, Self-Regulation, Students ABSTRAK Keterlibatan belajar sangat penting untuk keberhasilan mahasiswa di kelas. Mahasiswa yang aktif secara emosional, kognitif, dan perilaku cenderung lebih mudah memahami materi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh problematic smartphone use dan regulasi diri terhadap keterlibatan belajar pada mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain korelasional dengan melibatkan 357 mahasiswa dari Universitas Muhammadiyah Indonesia (UNISMA Bekasi) sebagai subjek penelitian. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini menggunakan skala keterlibatan belajar, skala problematic smartphone use, dan skala regulasi diri. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawaancara dan penyebaran skala psikologi. Hasil analisis regresi menunjukkan bahwa problematic smartphone use dan regulasi diri berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap keterlibatan belajar, dengan kontribusi kedua variabel sebesar 16,6% terhadap keterlibatan belajar (R2 = 0,166; F = 35,224; p < 0,000).
