Abstract

Ahmad Nashrullah 41182191220016 The Relationship Between Body Mass Index (BMI) and Learning Outcomes in Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) Among Grade XI Students at Public Senior High Schools in North Bekasi District – Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Islamic University "45". This study is grounded in the significance of nutritional status as a factor potentially linked to learning outcomes in Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK). Body Mass Index (BMI) serves as the indicator for assessing nutritional status by comparing body weight and height. The BMI range for high school (SMA and SMK) students is 18.5–25.0 kg/m², with classifications including underweight (<18.5 kg/m²), normal (18.5–25.0 kg/m²), overweight (25.1–27.0 kg/m²), and obese (>27.0 kg/m²). Students falling within the normal BMI range are considered to have good nutritional status. This study aims to analyze the relationship between Body Mass Index (BMI) and PJOK learning outcomes among Grade XI students in public high schools across the North Bekasi District. A quantitative approach utilizing a descriptive-correlational method was employed. The population comprised 950 Grade XI students from SMA Negeri 4 Bekasi, SMA Negeri 14 Bekasi, and SMA Negeri 20 Bekasi, while the sample consisted of 100 students selected via cluster sampling and systematic sampling techniques. BMI data were obtained through weight and height measurements, whereas PJOK learning outcomes were derived from report card grades covering cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics, normality tests, heteroscedasticity tests, Spearman Rank correlation tests, and ANOVA. The results indicate a significant relationship between Body Mass Index (BMI) and PJOK learning outcomes. Students in the normal BMI category tended to achieve higher learning outcomes compared to those in the underweight, overweight, or obese categories. Thus, it can be concluded that Body Mass Index (BMI) has a significant relationship with learning outcomes in Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) among Grade XI students in public high schools across the North Bekasi District.
